Summer fun for our little girl.
Since this will be her last summer before she has to attend school 5 days a week, I wanted to make it fun for her.

The first thing I did was enroll her in swimming lessons.

These are pictures from her first lesson. She did GREAT! The next lesson is this afternoon. In the picture below, she is the little girl sitting on the side of the pool.

Here she is leading the pack. The teacher sent her out first with the rest to follow … kicking and blowing bubbles. She was in 9 ft. of water with the teacher at the back of the pack of kids. Mommy was a bit concerned and was ready to jump in if needed, but thankfully another teacher came up beside of her (whew).

See the marker? 9 ft …

My husband walked away from work to see her at her first lesson. He is a good Daddy! Obviously he wasn’t dressed for the event. Both of us melted. It was only around 95 degrees and humid. Typical NC weather.

Here she is climbing out of the pool. So tiny and cute.

Time for the big cheesy smile, “I did it Mommy! Did you see me?” She kept looking at me and winking as she passed me. Ha.

Now for something that is even new for Mommy!

I have joined a public pool. Oh my! I have had to get over my bathing suit in public shyness.

When I was 13, my parents had an in-ground pool built. I had free access to water anytime I wanted. The past few years my parents weren’t able to care for the pool and now it is closed – indefinitely. Of course our daughter is at the age where she would really enjoy playing in a pool … so I had to bite the bullet and join somewhere.

I’m really glad we joined this pool! So far we have been 3 times and will probably be going again today. I really like the fact that there are a lot of Moms there with little kids. The perfect place for us on the week days. (They also allow floats, tubes, noodles, etc … yay!)

I visited this pool with some friends when I was a preteen. Some of the locals who grew up at this pool want me to take some pictures today (and post on facebook) so they can reminisce. You might see some pics at some point.

I hope you’re enjoying the summer too!
