Today I link with Beth at The Power of Your Love to memorize God’s Word. Oh how funny, I almost typed to memorize God’s “love” … isn’t that an interesting typo? God’s Word = Jesus and Jesus = love.

This past week we memorized John 3:16. Hopefully all Christians know this verse.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

This verse IS the gospel in one sentence, isn’t it? 1. God loves US — all who are in the world. 2. So much, that He gave His son, Jesus! 3. If we believe in Him, we will not perish, but have eternal life! What a power packed sentence!

This is also the verse that we see referenced at almost every sporting event on TV. Does it ever fail? There is usually a big sign JOHN 3:16 being held up in the crowd. I understand “why” someone would do that, but really — does it make ANY SENSE to anyone OTHER than a Christian? A non-Christian wouldn’t have a clue what it meant, right? I certainly understand their heart behind it though.

I am grateful that Jesus came to rescue me from my filth and wickedness. I am thankful that God sees me through the blood of Jesus!

Ok, moving on to our verse for this week:

John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

I hope you will join us in memorizing a scripture each week. If interested, please visit Beth HERE.
