Our church has a conference coming up entitled THE SHAKING.

I haven’t asked our leadership why they chose that name, but it definitely has me pondering what it means to be shaken.  For those who have followed me over the years know that in 2019 our church went through a shaking.  A month or two before things began to surface in the natural realm I experienced the shaking as an intercessor.   It started when I attended a worship night  — greatly expecting a night with The Lord.  I found a place on the floor near the altar and just stretched out before Him.  Suddenly my body began to shake.  It started out as a little tremble, but as the night passed I SHOOK.  Unless you’ve experienced something like this there is no way your mind can wrap around it.  I would be scratching my head too — trust me.  It must have been quite a sight because afterwards several checked on me.  I made the decision to surrender to what God was doing just to see what He had planned.  I shook and quaked most of the service.  (Shaking is not a peaceful experience.)  It wasn’t long after that night that our church truly experienced a shaking that shook many foundations — the pastors, the staff, and the church members.  Unfortunately, ripples of that event still exist today in the lives of some.

Back to 2021:  Yesterday during intercessory prayer at our church I wanted to weep.  I let the tears flow, but I didn’t allow the wailing that wanted to break out of my heart.  I internalized it thinking that I just felt raw.   I assumed it had to do with me.  (When will I ever learn?).  I felt so heavy.  I began to ask the Lord about SHAKING and I suddenly saw a picture in my mind of something like this:

The square piece was positioned exactly like this photo!  However, in my vision I saw it sitting like this over the square opening.  The SHAKING would reposition the square so it could fall into the opening.  IT IS ABOUT ALIGNMENT.  Think about this friends — if you are the little square bouncing around on the top, the shaking wouldn’t feel very comfortable.   The process might not feel safe or amazing, but ALIGNMENT is the goal.   Something else that came to my mind is that this is a Holy alignment.  It isn’t something that anyone can force.   Have you ever had your back aligned?  Things function better when in alignment.

ALIGNMENT

Definition according to Merriam-Webster
1: the act of aligning or state of being aligned especially : the proper positioning or state of adjustment of parts (as of a mechanical or electronic device) in relation to each other
2 : a forming in line b: the line thus formed
3: the ground plan (as of a railroad or highway) in distinction from the profile
4: an arrangement of groups or forces in relation to one another

I never released the wailing of tears within me, but the young lady seated next to me in prayer also felt the weeping.  Once The Lord gave her a picture of His Love and acceptance the dam broke and the tears flowed from her eyes.   We discussed what we were feeling during the prayer meeting and we were in alignment.

Many scriptures that mention shaking are about the Lord shaking the heavens and the earth.   Shaking is not an action that can be controlled.  I think of shaking as swift and maybe even violent.  I envision earthquakes, volcanoes — a great power being released.  God’s power — His glory!

Haggai 2:7
“I will shake all the nations; and they will come with the wealth of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory,”  says the Lord of hosts.

 

Acts 4:31
And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.

In Acts, the PLACE was shaken.  God’s power showed up and more people were filled with His Holy Spirit.

SHAKEN

God is allowing a shaking to take place in our nation and I believe with all of His people.

Hebrews 12:25-29
See that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused Him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject Him who warns from heaven.  At that time His voice shook the earth, but now He has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”  This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain.  Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,  for our God is a consuming fire.

Shaking all things that may be shaken …

I wait with great expectation to see what God has planned for His people.  Alignment will happen during the shaking.  That which can’t be shaken will remain.
