We have been promising our little princess that she could have a pink “big girl” room (bye bye obnoxious yellow paint!) and we are finally delivering on our promise. The painters arrived this morning and since this room is located near the front of the house, the painter is using our front door.

The use of the front door isn’t exciting news, but the reason it is important is because WE NEVER USE OUR FRONT DOOR. As I walked through our foyer I noticed all of the DUST that has been hiding in the dark! When the sunlight shone through the foyer, everything hidden was EXPOSED (to my embarrassment).

I immediately thought of the light of Christ that shines into our lives. We may think we have it all together until the light of Christ shines in and exposes our filthy rags!

1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men’s hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.

There were times in my life that I WANTED my actions to be hidden in the darkness of night. I feared being exposed for who I really was and what I was willing to do to have my unmet needs “fulfilled” (though the fulfillment was counterfeit). Even as a Christian, I had so many unhealed areas in my life and God’s light made it clear! I am in a much healthier place now (thank the Lord), but even now I say some things that I’d rather stay hidden. Even my angry moments when someone is about to push my last button — I would never want anyone to see those reactions (or hear the thoughts in my heart).

John 3:20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

2 Samuel 22:29 You are my lamp, O LORD; the LORD turns my darkness into light.

Job 28:11 He searches the sources of the rivers and brings hidden things to light.

Job 33:28 He redeemed my soul from going down to the pit, and I will live to enjoy the light.

I am so thankful for the LIGHT that has been sent for our good! Without Jesus, we walk in darkness, unaware of our condition. We always have hope. What an amazing contrast to the dark! Light = truth and hope! Darkness = lies and deception.

Psalm 19:8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

Psalm 43:3 Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.

So as we go through our day, I pray God will speak to our hearts about His light. I pray He will shine His light in our hearts to expose anything hidden so that healing can come.

John 12:46 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

God bless you all!
