corn maze, WestminsterYesterday I almost cried when our first school group of the day walked through our farm.   It was this schools first time attending and they were all so excited.  As they walked through our picnic shelter to load the hay ride, I could see the joy and excitement in each face.  They looked around saying, “Wow” as they saw the bounce houses, hay ride wagon, etc …

Throughout their visit, the teachers and chaperones commented how much they loved our farm.   When I saw their gratitude, it made me want to bless them more.  They appreciated everything we provided for them and they enjoyed the beauty of the farm.

I wonder if God feels that way about His children who are grateful?   We know from His Word that He gives us good gifts:

Matthew 7:9-11
Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!

When our daughter was born, God began to speak to my heart about His love for me.  He gave me examples about my love for my daughter and how I loved to bless her.   GreeAcresCary, corn maze, WestminsterThough I have always enjoyed blessing her,  I also appreciate a grateful attitude.   Don’t you?

As God’s child, I want to bless Him.  I do want to show a grateful attitude and a thankful heart.  My desire isn’t because I am wanting something in return, but because I want to be a blessing to Him.

When is the last time you thought about the way God sees you?  So many times I hear people use God’s grace to excuse the things they do.  But we can grieve the Holy Spirit.  I never want to do that.  I don’t want to grieve Him with my actions or reactions — though  in this season I feel myself walking in the flesh.  Sigh.   Oh yes, I could use the excuse that I’m tired, but ultimately the responsibility is mine to awaken in time to start my day with God.   It is also my responsibility to bite my tongue and guard my mouth (ahem … need help in this area).

With all of this put out here today … I am reminding myself (as well as anyone reading this) that God loves a thankful heart.

Colossians 2:6-8
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Colossians 3:15
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Colossians 4:2
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Hebrews 12:28-29
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,for our “God is a consuming fire.”

I am grateful for all that God has placed in my life and given me.  He is a good Father and I need Him every moment of every day!    (<——-You can tweet this by clicking here.)

Have you shown God your gratitude lately?

Have a blessed weekend everyone!
