I was just reading in James chapter 5 this morning and this scripture stood out to me:

James 5:16a
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. (NIV)

As I read verse 16, I began to wonder what the word “healed” meant in Greek because I had a feeling it had to do with spiritual healing as well.

I didn’t want to awaken my family by rambling through my old Strong’s Concordance, so I looked up the Amplified Version (which often has the original meaning in parenthesis/brackets).  Here is what I found:

James 5:16a
Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart].

I know that the spiritual/emotional/physical all go “hand in hand” — so this is a very important step for us to remember.

I have said for many years that satan can’t operate where there is LIGHT.  Once his plans are uncovered and exposed, he seems to lose some ground.  There is also power in prayer when a close friend prays in agreement with you.

The second sentence in verse 16 is this:

James 5:16b
The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].  (Amp)

I love that!  TREMENDOUS POWER available and working for your situation!

Is there something you need to confess to a prayer partner?  Don’t delay …
