I love Christmas and I love the story of Jesus’ birth — even though there is nothing clean and beautiful about it in the natural.

I can’t imagine being 9 months pregnant and sitting on a rough-riding donkey for miles.  There were no emergency personnel to contact for help.  It was just Mary and her fiance, Joseph.

I often wonder what Mary and Joseph thought as Jesus was growing up.   So much is unknown about his formative years.  Did they treat Him special compared to the rest of their children?   Did they understand why He was sent here?  Perhaps they thought He would be a political ruler who would set their people free somehow.  Surely they could have never imagined Him dying as a spotless Lamb, to take on the sins of the world.  How did Mary survive and keep her sanity as she watched her child mutilated and killed?

In the beginning, was satan somehow blinded to the fact that Mary was pregnant with the King of Kings?  Was he blocked from harassing her or harming her?  So many questions run through my mind.

Luke 1:4-7
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.  He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.  While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,  and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

I am so thankful!  I am grateful for the precious Child born in the manger and I am grateful for the Son of God who willingly became the Spotless Lamb for me.
