Today I am linking with sweet Nan and participating in her Meme at Momstheword.

Making your home sing Mondays

I haven’t participated in this Meme on a regular basis because basically I felt like I failed in this area. The only singing going on around here was me and my Princess worshiping the Lord! Seriously! But now …. yeah baby! I can sing with Nan and the rest of you! Woo hoo!

I have mentioned several times how the FLY LADY came to my rescue. Seriously, it doesn’t even make logical sense that cleaning a silly sink and making it shine would actually change my entire house, but IT IS TRUE. So, this is what I am doing this morning to make my house SING. Ok? Are you ready?

  • I empty my dishwasher so that when my daughter eats breakfast, her dishes can immediately go into the washer!
  • I make sure my counters are nice and empty, no hot spots are allowed (where clutter tries to gather)!
  • I swish some soap around in my two commodes. Thanks to the fly lady, I have a crock full of soapy water sitting in each bathroom — which makes swishing very easy.
  • I make up our beds.
  • Start a load of clothes.
  • I get my handy dandy Swiffer Sweeper Vac (my newest toy) and zoom through my house

That little list takes NO TIME at all and then my house looks ready for visitors.

It is crazy, but I hate to even allow water in my sink now. I immediately dry it out. When I keep my sink empty and clean, then the rest of my house just follows suit. Yep, that is how you’ll find my sink 24/7! Before, it would have had some dishes sitting around since the dishwasher would have been full.

The other day I had to baby sit a cute little baby boy for some friends. When they came to get him, they insisted on coming back in a few hours to watch our daughter so that my husband and I could go out. BEFORE fly lady, I would have FREAKED OUT. Seriously. You could eat off of my friend’s floor! Their house is immaculate. At least mine was decent. I didn’t have to do one thing but hop in the shower and get myself ready. Hallelujah!

My husband has been singing my praises and immediately noticed the difference in our home. Here is my goal:

Proverbs 31:27-28
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

Have a wonderful day and a VICTORIOUS week!
