I just read an interesting email from Gary & Kathi Oates concerning healing.  I will share the email on this post.

For those of you who know me, you know that I am more than happy to pray over those who need healing.  I especially love it when people are instantly healed.  To God be ALL the glory!  (JESUS is the healer — we are the conduit.)

I always warn the person not to allow the enemy to steal their healing.  If the “symptom” tries to come back, I tell them to stand their ground and say, “NO!  I AM HEALED!”

How to Maintain your Healing – Part 3

In part one, we looked at reason’s why some people are not healed. Oftentimes these are the same reasons people lose their healing.

In part two, we saw how the enemy tries to rob you of your healing.

Today, we want to conclude the series by taking a look at some practical aspects of maintaining our healing.

We think if a superstar in the healing ministry can pray for us, we will be instantly healed. We seem to always want a quick fix. We can experience a significant healing but can’t maintain it because our mindset continues to go back to a negative default mode.

Dr. Caroline Leaf in her wonderful book “Who Switched Off My Brain” says that 87% to 95% of the illnesses that plague us today are a direct result of our thought life. What we think about affects us physically and emotionally. She goes on to say that fear triggers more than 1,400 known physical and chemical responses and activates more than 30 different hormones.

By changing the way we think (renewing our mind) we can stay healthy and avoid ending up with the same condition again.

We can lose the healing because our immune system is compromised. The symptoms can disappear, but we don’t do anything to build up our immune system, so eventually the symptoms reappear – and other ones as well. It’s important to eat the right kind of food, take good vitamin supplements, and exercise often. Also, get plenty of rest and sound sleep. Sleep deprivation and stress can destroy a healthy immune system. We need adequate rest in order to stay healthy!

Mark 16:18 (NASB) “…they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover”. The word “recover” means a progressive healing, not instantaneous. It’s important to press in for total healing after receiving a partial healing. You can lose it by not contending for it.

Sometimes we must change our lifestyle in order to maintain our healing. To the man who was healed at the pool of Bethesda, Jesus said, “See, you are well! Stop sinning, or something worse may happen to you.” John 5:14 (Amp)

Prov. 17:22 (NKJV) “A merry heart does good like medicine.” That verse literally means, “A joyful heart causes good healing.” Laugh a lot!

Prov. 4:20-22 (NASB) “My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart, for they are life to those who find them and health to all their body.” Read God’s Word and soak in His presence everyday!

3 John 1:2 (NASB) “Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.”
