JournalToday Bonnie, The Faith Barista, asked us write with this prompt:  A Letter to God.

Do you ever write letters to God?  I have written to God in my journals for years though it wasn’t until a recent dream that I decided to entitle a journal, “Letters to God.”  I was actually instructed to do so.

There is just something different about putting my prayers in writing.   One reason is I have proof of what I asked for … as in the example I am sharing below.  Another reason is I hope that my daughter will consider my journals a treasure someday.

Since I do keep my prayer journal near me, I write letters to God on a consistent basis.   I decided I would just share some exerts.

Most of my letters are way too personal to post here, but pieces like this are usually found within:

From August 11, 2012:

Father, I am so thankful for Your mercy, forgiveness, and love.  Where would I be without You?  Lord, You alone helped me when I had no one else.  There was no one I could run to through the many years of torment.

Your Spirit taught me so much.  I still need more and more wisdom and revelation from Your Holy Spirit.

Yesterday I was praying in the Spirit when all of a sudden in English I said, “I want to know what love is.  I want You to show me.  I want to feel what love is …”

Father God, create in me a pure clean heart.  I don’t want to grieve You.  I love You Lord.

This is from a letter I wrote on August 14, 2012.

Father, I am going to soaking at TWC today.  I am excited and I go with great expectation in meeting You there!

I just want to meet with You Jesus.  Would You show Yourself to me in new ways today?  I want to walk with You and see parts of heaven.  I’m excited!

Lord, You were here for me when I had nobody else to turn to … You gave me wisdom how to overcome.  You taught me — yet I still have so much to learn!  I’m hungry!  Please show me.  Please teach me.  I come today with excitement!

I need to be dipped and bathed in Your precious love.

Change me Lord.  Change me for Your purposes …

The letter goes on, but is too personal to share.   I wrote this note the morning before I went to soaking.  It was during that soaking session that I saw Jesus sitting across the river on the bank.  He came over to me and began to swing me around like a child and HE WALKED WITH ME.    It was a direct answer to the prayer above “I want to walk with You and see parts of heaven.”

Do you write letters to God?  If not, perhaps you should give it a try.   <—- Tweet This.

God loves us and wants to hear from us.  He is the Vine and we are the branches.  We need to communicate with our Father in heaven.
