voiceI started this blog because I wanted my voice and my opinions to be heard.

Something had happened in my life that rocked my foundation and I used my blog as a medium to work through the pain and anger.   In that situation I had no voice.    Those in authority (or even those who usurped authority) couldn’t hear me.

I needed to have a voice.

Don’t we all desire to be heard?

Not out of selfish ambition or pride — as if our voice is always worthy of hearing, but because each of us hold a piece of the puzzle.  Each of us can teach someone else something we have learned through the trials we have overcome.

Those who know me in real life KNOW that I never get a chance to talk when my husband is around.   He is a character!  He loves to tell stories and laugh with others.  Me, I am quiet because I can’t get a word in edgewise – ha.   It isn’t that I don’t WANT to talk, but for whatever reason — a lot of people in my life don’t give me the chance.   For instance, one of my friends called me the other day and didn’t even hear me say hello before she started talking.  I was having problems on my end, but she couldn’t hear me.  She talked for several minutes straight then finally said, “Beth?  Beth?”  Ha.

I am reminded of Toby Keith’s lyrics from his song, I WANNA TALK ABOUT ME:

I wanna talk about me
Wanna talk about I
Wanna talk about number one
Oh my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see
I like talking about you you you you, usually, but occasionally
I wanna talk about meeeeee
I wanna talk about me

Yes, we all want a voice and want to be heard.

This blog is one way I can actually speak without someone talking over me.   Whew.  I’m thankful for it.

As you may have guessed, I have joined Lisa-Jo for her 5-Minute Friday meme.   She provides the prompt and we write for 5 minutes.  Today’s prompt was:  VOICE
