This morning I read the first 3 chapters of Song of Songs or Song of Solomon (depending on your Bible version).   As I read through the woman’s reaction as she saw her Beloved coming, my thoughts went back to the way I would run to the door at my parent’s house when my sweetheart arrived.  I too felt that passion and excitement.  I loved the smell of his cologne, his hair, his clothes.  Everything about him was just what I wanted.   He was handsome and knew so much about so many things.  He had my heart.

(I’m sure I have shared this photo with you before, but for my new readers — here is a shot of me and my husband when we were dating.  Excuse the shadow behind us.  Remember the days before digital cameras?)

Bethandbeloved Everyone wants to be someone’s LOVE — the person their heart skips a beat to see and touch.

All I ever wanted was to be his FIRST.  Not ahead of God, but in all other areas.

Ephesians 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.

I wanted to come before his work, before his friends, before every distraction that pulled him away.

Of course, I never felt things fell in that order … but here we are, about to reach our 23rd wedding anniversary.

I believe Jesus has that passion for us.  I believe He loves and adores us.  He sees us as beautiful daughters/sisters.  He doesn’t judge our physical appearance but sees the beauty of our hearts.   Oh, if only we humans could look beyond the physical …

I can’t speak for all women, but I can only imagine that you are similar to me and want to know that your daddy and your husband find you beautiful and acceptable.   We want to be that princess, that fair maiden.   First with our fathers, then our husbands.

Song of Songs 2:4
Let Him lead me to the banquet hall, and let His banner over me be love.

Yes Lord, may Your banner over me be love because I do love and adore You!

I remember when I first truly fell in love with the Lord.  It was during my darkest hours.  It was during the years of great torment from fear.  I fell at the feet of Jesus and He accepted me.  He brushed me off and put me back on my feet.   I ran to Him and ran to any place I could find where I might experience Him more.

Song of Songs 2:10-12
My Beloved spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me.  See!  The winter is past; the rains are over and gone.  Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.”

We all want to be adored and cherished.   Ladies, we do have that precious Lover of our souls.  There is One who desires our time and wants to hear what we have to say.   He is always listening.  He says, “COME WITH ME.”
