Genesis 1:27
So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Here comes summer ladies.  For some of us, the thought of having to be seen in public in a bathing suit is just about horrifying.  Even for me to put on shorts is an uncomfortable task.  I can thank my friend Lisa L. for pointing out how the skin looks after a certain age.  (Ahem!  Thanks Lisa.)   When my parents had a swimming pool, I only had to face them, but now public swimming pools open up an entirely different level of exposure.

Before Adam and Eve took a bite out of the forbidden fruit, we weren’t ashamed of our nakedness.  Sin crept in and caused great havoc.

Comfortable?

What makes some people, who even though are overweight, feel completely comfortable with their bodies?   Where does that confidence come from?

Perhaps they have never had anyone make them feel less-than or hurt them with their words.  I’m not sure, but I DO know this.   As a follower of Christ we are:

  • More than a conqueror. (Romans 8:37)
  • The head and not the tail.  (Deuteronomy 28:13)
  • Above and not beneath!  (Deuteronomy 28:13)
  • Seated with Christ in heavenly places.  (Ephesians 1:20)
  • Given authority.  (Luke 10:19)
  • Salt and light in this dark world.  (Matthew 5:13)
  • A royal priesthood!  (1 Peter 2:9)

That alone should help you raise your chin a little higher!

We put way too much emphasis on the flesh.  I am guilty too!

The painting above looks like someone reading a Bible with their head tilted towards the heavens — receiving truth and revelation.   Heaven is where we should find our self-worth.   The Bible is our compass.

We are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).  We should never allow anyone to make us feel less than just that — wonderfully made.

My heart’s cry is that I have the aroma of my Lord on my life and that His fragrance would outweigh anything else.

Do I point others to Him?  Does my life reflect time spent with Him?  That is what matters.

Father, help me keep my focus where it belongs … on You.

Have a blessed Wednesday everyone!
