Psalm 68:4-5
Sing to God, sing praises to His name;

Extol Him who rides on the clouds,
By His name YAH,
And rejoice before Him.
A Father of the fatherless, a Defender of widows,

Is God in His holy habitation.

I recently had a friend tell me that she felt like an orphan once her last parent died.  And I can remember years ago thinking that once my parents died, I would no longer have anyone on the earth who would love me unconditionally.  However, now that I am walking through this in reality, I don’t feel like an orphan.  I am still O and M’s daughter, though they have gone home ahead of me.

How could I even be fatherless today as we celebrate “Father’s Day” here?  I am a daughter of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!  I do have a Father who is still with me.

I honor my earthly daddy who is spending his first Father’s Day away from his children, but oh what glorious presents he is reaping now!  He was a good daddy to me.  He was stable, constant, and loving.  I do miss him, but I would never want him back to live like he was.

Finally, Father’s Day around here will be all about my husband.  He is a good daddy to our little girl!  I am grateful that she will be able to say good things about her daddy too.   And she knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that he adores her and is proud of her.
