Yesterday someone’s Facebook status caught my attention.  It was a scripture.

We can read certain scriptures for years and not really feel the weight of them.  Then there is a day and time when some type of veil is removed and the power of that Living Word pierces into our hearts.

I have known this scripture for years.

It is simple and to the point.

It should be easy enough to obey, but don’t we all like to share our opinions and thoughts?

The scripture that really caught my attention was:

Matthew 12:36
But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.

Think about the words that come from your mouth.

The English Standard Version reads we will give account for every CARELESS word spoken.

I am a fairly quiet person unless I am around my heart-friends.  If someone wants to talk about Jesus or share testimonies, I am full of words — otherwise I often find myself quiet.   Maybe that is good sometimes, but I still have WAY TOO MANY careless, empty words floating around.

WORDS

For those who have followed my blog for a while or know me personally — you know that I consider WORDS to be powerful.  They can be used to bless or to curse.

Proverbs 18:20-21
A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.  Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Charles Capps, author of God’s Creative Power for Healing states, “What you believe and speak not only affects your body but your immune system as well.  Your words become either a blessing or a curse to you” (page 7).

I just had a young lady request prayer last night.  I invited her over since she was coming near my home on her way to church.  I prayed over an area of her body that had been giving her pain.  The doctors had wanted to perform surgery that would have kept her out of commission for weeks.   I showed her how to pray over herself and the pain left her body.    When I told her she could do this herself she said, “I know.  I just don’t feel worthy.”  As I said to her, “I’m not worthy either.  None of us are.”   Well, at least we aren’t worthy on our own accord.  It is only through the blood of Jesus that we are RIGHTEOUS.  We are in right standing with the Father.  Hallelujah!

Back to the young lady.  It is so important that we don’t come into agreement with a doctor’s report.    I have had to do this in my own life as well.  I am very careful who I share certain things with.

I’m not talking about denial, but I’m talking about receiving those reports as the FINAL truth of the matter.  I asked the young lady what the doctor had said and used his words as a road map how to pray (the opposite) for healing.

Here is an example of what happened to my dear husband.  He had a friend who gave him a hard time when he was about to turn 40.  The guy told him, “Everything starts falling apart once you hit the age of 40.”  Somehow my husband must have received that lie because the DAY of his 40th birthday, he was in the ER with a kidney stone!  He even quoted what his friend said over and over again.

When people make comments like that, rebuke them and don’t receive those words in your heart.

I pray this will be a reminder to watch your words today.   I know I am on alert about what leaves my lips.

Have a wonderful day and God bless you!
