The Faith Barista asked us to write about TRUST in today’s Faith Jam.

When I began to think about trust, my mind immediately went to a statement I heard one of my closest friends make about 7 years ago.  She said, “Beth only allows a few people into her inner circle.”  It shocked me to hear those words, but then the truth resonated within me.  Ouch!  Was I that guarded?   She knew me well, even better than I knew myself at that time.

I am really searching my heart as I type this, but I think I am much more trusting now.  I have changed a lot over the past 7 years, however God does advise us to guard our hearts.

Proverbs 4:3
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

When we guard our hearts, does that mean we can’t trust others?  I think the answer is no.  We can still trust people to a certain extent and of course we can always trust God.   The reason I wrote, “to a certain extent” is because we are all human and will often fail others even if that wasn’t our intent.   But God — He will NEVER fail us, never betray us, and never leave us.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.

We can fully trust Him in all circumstances!

I can only speak from my own experiences, but I have learned that I can trust God and His Word.

When the enemy was tormenting my mind and my body was physically telling me the opposite of what God’s Word stated — I stood on the scriptures.  As I stood on the scriptures, my situation in the natural changed and came into alignment with the Word of God.    You can read a fraction of my testimony here.

What God did (and still does) for me, He will do for you.  He is no respecter of persons.

Romans 2:11
For there is no respect of persons with God. (KJV)

Other versions read that God shows no favoritism.

He loves each of us.

We can trust Him.

Proverbs 3:4-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
   and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight.

I believe the Lord wants us in a place where we realize our need for Him.  I think trials and difficult seasons give us the opportunity to lean even more — to press “into” His arms.

My siblings, parents, and I are in a difficult season.  Both of my parents are dying.  I’m sure each of us are handling this season differently, but nonetheless – it is something we can’t escape.  It has been difficult on everyone involved.

TRUST

I CANNOT imagine getting through this without the Lord and without my family & friends.

I lean.

I trust.

We can’t see what is around the corner, just like the in the first photo I posted.   None of us know what we will face today, but we know that God is good and He loves us.   We CAN trust Him.
