There are some things I expect each day.

I expect the sun to rise and the sun to set.

I expect to see the moon and stars each night.

I expect my husband to kiss me goodbye each morning and to hear his footsteps as he walks heavily through the house to leave for work.

There are daily expectations then there are annual expectations —  one being the return of my Mimosa blooms each year!   Each summer I wait and watch with great anticipation as they start to bud and grow.  But with the busyness of life, we often forget the most important things.

THE AROMA!

Last night as the sun was going down, I zoomed around our yard on the lawnmower and suddenly this heavenly aroma swirled around me.  I looked up and I was under a canopy of Mimosa blossoms.  The tree (that I planted as a stick) was huge and covering me like a ceiling.  I was stopped in my tracks and immediately taken back to my childhood.  I was transported back to a time when life was more carefree.  I suddenly saw myself running around outside with a mason jar catching lightning bugs.  Snapshots of my grandparent’s home and yard filled my mind.  I remembered.  I smiled.

Oh, the smell was part of heaven here on earth.

I wait with great expectation for my Mimosa trees to bloom each year!  What a gift from God!

Did you guess that I was linking with Lisa Jo at the Gypsy Mama for 5 Minute Friday?  She provides the prompt and we write for 5 minutes.  We just flow with whatever comes to our minds without any forethought.   My mind was on my beautiful Mimosa trees since I had just taken some shots with them last night.

The prompt today:  EXPECTATION
