It is late, but I just saw the discussion at the Well and wanted to join!

Lisa posed the following questions to us:

How can we lay a welcome mat of love for our husbands after a long day of hard work?

How can we make our homes inviting places where Daddy longs to be at the end of a long day?

How can we involve our children in this process and teach them to show reverence to their Daddy?

How do we answer these questions as Titus 2 women?

Titus 2:4-5
… so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored. NASB

I don’t remember my Mom ever doing anything in particular to welcome my Dad home, but I certainly remember chomping at the bit to see my Daddy every evening! I’m sure I met him in the yard when at all possible! I know shouts of “Daddy! Daddy!” left my mouth as I jumped up and down. For me, my Dad was a place of safety and peace.

As a Mom, the main thing I try to do for my husband is have supper almost ready when he comes home. Isn’t is wonderful to come into a home that smells like a nice home cooked meal? As I type, I have cabbage, corn on the cob, and hamburger steak cooking. Once my husband arrives, some corn bread will be cooked and supper will be ready. Yum!

I also have my daughter pick up her toys because her favorite place to scatter is right in front of his chair in the den.

Our daughter is at the age where she likes to tease her Daddy and hide when he comes in the door. I certainly pray his home feels like a refuge to him. We are so grateful for my husband and all that he does for us.

I pray all of us will try to make our homes a place of peace and refuge for everyone who enters our doors.
