Today Deb at One Single Minute is leading the discussion at the well and her topic is LOVE. She shared how after years of marriage, she found herself grumbling about a husband who didn’t pick up after himself, etc …

She began to cry out to God to change HER heart towards her husband and children. As she prayed, her heart changed and she began to pray blessings over them as she picked up after them each day.

She posed the following questions to us:

Are you showing love to your family, or are you finding yourself more and more often entertaining selfishness and self pity?

If you are entertaining your flesh, what can you do today to change that and make your home a place of love and contentment?

Ouch! I can honestly say that I get a good kick in the pants REMINDER like this and I’ll do well for a season, but then life creeps back in on my heart.

I love my husband and daughter so much and I would never want to go through life without either of them. But do I get frustrated when I am constantly picking up behind them? YES. Do I roll my eyes when I have to pick out something for my husband to wear each Sunday? YES. Do I feel drained going back and forth to my parent’s house every other day?!?!?! YES! Would I rather have nobody to pick up after, dress, or visit? NOOOOOO!

There is no other way to say it. Anytime we are feeling self-pity our minds are on OURSELVES and NOT on Jesus. And guess what, Jesus does not attend pity parties.

Hebrews 3:1
Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.

Thank you Deb for this reminder to be THANKFUL for my blessings and to keep my mind focused on heavenly things. What a great reminder to use the opportunities of serving others as a chance to pray blessings over them!

Colossians 4:2
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
