shellshopping

Oh little hermit crab, we aren’t so different — you and I.

Each of us retreat into our shell for protection when the One who cares for us only intends to love.

Each of us shop for pretty shells to make us feel better about ourselves.   Maybe this one makes me feel more comfortable.   Maybe this one fits just right …

Oh little hermit crab, we aren’t so different — you and I.

Each of us have suffered mistreatment at some point.

Each of us have survived.

Each of us have been given everything we need to survive and thrive, but will we continue to shop for new shells to hide within?

Oh little hermit crab, we aren’t so different — you and I.

Each of us go through seasons of change.  You molt to change your appearance and grow.   I run after God to change my heart and grow.

Each of us want to fulfill our destinies.  You, to live a life of community with other crabs.   Me, to make a difference in the lives of others — to find a sense of community.

Each of us want peace.

Oh little hermit crab, we aren’t so different — you and I.

Jeremiah 29:11
“I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord.  “They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope.” (GOD’S WORD translation)
