TruthVersusLiesHave you ever witnessed the truth to the old saying:  You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink?

I have witnessed it many times when it comes to another person’s walk with the Lord.  You can point them to God and share your testimony, but the Holy Spirit is the only One who can open their understanding.

People often walk around in deception by believing what the devil says.   They don’t understand how to stand on the Word of God and they simply don’t know what the scriptures say about their lives.

Satan often told me that I was rejected and stupid.   I was less than.   I wasn’t number one to anyone.  I wasn’t wanted.   My feelings didn’t matter.   I had no voice.   I had basically received these lies as “truth” because it was always whispered in my subconscious and was often reinforced in circumstances around me.

So many times we entertain lies, but we don’t recognize the deception because we believe the thoughts are our own because we don’t have the Living Word of God as our foundation.   I’m not necessarily referring to unbelievers, but this applies to many believers as well.

Have you ever thrown yourself a good pity party?

I used to say, “Jesus doesn’t come to pity parties” as I recognized myself whining, but I don’t say this anymore.   God loves us and when we are in despair – He is with us.    God never leaves or forsakes us — even when we roll around in our own misery.  I will admit though — the times I experienced self-pity was because I was focused on MYSELF versus the Lord.   When my eyes are on Him and have a thankful heart — I don’t have time to lift my own feelings up on a pedestal.

Joyce Meyer often says,  “You can be pitiful or you can be powerful, but you can’t be both.”

When my mind and body told me that I COULDN’T do certain things, God’s Word told me the OPPOSITE!   In the natural, I couldn’t do normal activities that everyone else around me took for granted.   I was so bound and tormented by fear that I couldn’t drive.  I couldn’t leave my house.   I couldn’t go to church.   I couldn’t go to stores.  I didn’t have peace.   I was desperate and nobody could help me.

Many of you know my testimony …

It was during this time that I ran to God’s Word and began to stand on the scriptures versus what my own body tried to tell me.    I was amazed at the LIFE FORCE within the Word of God.  His scriptures are true — the Word is LIVING AND ACTIVE and it doesn’t return unto the Lord until it accomplishes what He sent it out to do.   It really is our sword to use!   (Please check out my story at the top of my blog if you haven’t read it before.)

Someone who has walked through something like this can share HOW to overcome with the blood of Jesus and His Word, but we can only help and pray.   We can’t do it for others — though sometimes I wish we could.

I guess it is similar to the analogy of a butterfly workings its way out of a cocoon (or chrysalis).  It needs to push its way through to build up strength.   In our times of trouble, we learn many valuable lessons that become stepping-stones in our Christian walk.  Foundational stones that will not waver or fade away.   These stones cannot be made by others, but only between each person and the Lord.

Are you facing something that seems to be a roadblock in your life?  Be encouraged!

God loves you and did not leave you here alone.

Your answers are in the Bible and also in the Lord.  God does still talk to us today.  His wonderful Spirit is our teacher, counselor, and comforter.

I pray you seek God and find the peace, freedom, and victory you desire.

Isaiah 33:5-6
The Lord is exalted, for He dwells on high;
He will fill Zion with His justice and righteousness.
He will be the sure foundation for your times,
a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge;
the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.
