Two more weeks!

I am literally counting the days!

I am thankful this is a seasonal business.

I am pooped y’all.  We had over 200 kids at once this morning and we have another day like this next week.  Though I’m thankful for the business, it makes it much more difficult to make sure each child gets a hay ride, time in the play area, and time in the maze.  Somehow God always works it out though.

Late yesterday afternoon I actually vented a bit with some slack parent who was trespassing.   I feel kind-of guilty about it now, because my reaction was a little bit strong.  My excuse:  My parents were having a difficult day and I had been dealing with them earlier that afternoon (after school groups that morning).

My daughter and I were cleaning up a bunch of balloons that our guests had left on Sunday.  We drove the golf cart through our shelter to discover a little boy that might have been THREE years old standing in our shelter all alone.

I was stunned to say the least!

I said, “Honey, where are your parents?”  The little boy was trying to pull on some toy tractors that we sell.  He said, “My Mommy drove me here.”  I began to lead the little boy out of the shelter with no “Mommy” in sight!  I went up the path to the pumpkin patch (which is a long distance from our corn maze shelter) and still no parent.  Finally I looked up at our house and saw a woman at our back door.  At this point I was so disgusted that this woman wasn’t watching her child on a working farm I began to scold her!  We have BIG water trucks drive FAST down that path throughout the day.  Our employees (and even my husband) drive fast through that area (not expecting a toddler to be out there).  Not to mention a huge pond and many other dangerous things were within his reach.   I was so upset with this woman for trespassing AND leaving her child in danger.  Argh … ok, enough about that.

My oldest niece had a sweet wedding on Friday night.  Here are a couple of pictures:

There you go.  Busy, busy, busy.

I hope to be back to visit you all in a couple of weeks.

October 18th …

Twelve more days to go!

Have a wonderful week everyone!
