Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.  Whatever you have learned or received or heard from Me, or seen in Me—put it into practice.  And the God of peace will be with you.

We should fill our minds (and meditate) on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy.

Our minds seem to be the place where everything begins.  It is like a well plowed field just waiting for seeds to be dropped and planted.

Will we plants good seed or bad seed?  The choice is ours.

Romans 12:2
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.

We renew our minds by reading God’s Word which gives us knowledge and truth concerning WHO WE ARE in Christ.  All truth is provided within the pages of our Bibles.

Joshua 1:8-9
Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

There is a connection between our minds and our mouths.  Whatever we meditate on always comes out of our mouths — whether it be good or bad.  God wants us to meditate on His Word so that our minds will be renewed and our words will be Truth.

What are you THINKING ABOUT today?  When you find yourself dwelling on offense, self-pity, anger, and the like — make an intentional effort to STOP and replace those thoughts with God’s Word.   It may seem difficult at first, but just like anything else, with practice it becomes much easier.  If you don’t know what the Bible states about different situations, there is no better time to start than now.  Ask the Holy Spirit to open your understanding as you read.
