Do you ever feel like God just gives you little extra gifts sometimes to make you smile? I had this happen yesterday!

I went to my parent’s neighbor’s home to drop off some school uniforms and I saw a guy digging through my Daddy’s barn.  I knew he was there gathering scrap metal — so I told him I was one of the daughter’s from the auction.  His face lit up and he said, “I have something for you!”   He ran over to his truck and started back to me with something in his hand.   I knew immediately it was our old armadillo!  Well, I should say it was my Daddy’s armadillo!  I have NO IDEA where this thing came from, but I remember being fascinated with it as a child.

God knew I wanted to find this thing.  I had even told my sister that I wanted it and I had asked the auction employees if they had seen it.   The last time I saw this little fellow, he was living in an old TV cabinet in the center room of that old barn.   And guess what, that is EXACTLY where this guy found him.   Poor thing, part of his tail is missing and bits of his ears have fallen off, but I think he has aged fairly well — considering.

He isn’t pretty to look at, but he makes me smile.

Another piece of my childhood handed over to me yesterday. What a comical, yet sweet gift!

God loves us so much!  He even cares about the little things in our lives.   I remember YEARS ago I was in the grocery store and I felt led to buy a Glade Plug-in that clipped onto a car vent.   I gave it to my friend Laura (who at the time had a husband in the military, a new baby, and no money).   She was grateful because a tomato had rolled under her car seat and had rotted before she noticed.    I didn’t know what she needed, but God did.   What a thoughtful, loving God — our Abba Father!

He knows your needs and your heart’s desires.

Psalm 37:4
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

I wonder what sweet smiles God will give you today?

Even the smallest desires catch His attention when you delight yourself in Him.

Happy Wednesday everyone!
