Sweet little girl, you are so full of innocence and fear.
Why are you so fearful? When was that seed planted? God is with you and He loves you!
Now that I have a daughter, I often look at pictures of you and desire to hold you and show you the love you so hungered to receive.
Even in this picture, you are leaning against your grandparents — so hungry for affection. Oh they loved you. Your family does love you!
Satan planted lies in your heart that you weren’t wanted. They were lies dear child.
You were wanted!
You were worthy!
Enjoy all of those years playing in the yard at your grandparent’s house with your cousins. Soak up every memory because they will be sweet as honey to you one day.
Beth, don’t sell yourself short. Value yourself and protect yourself. You were never taught that, but it is true. God sent His only Son to die for you. Your life is in His Hand though you don’t understand it. Your choices now are going to lead you into waters of regret, but God never leaves you. I would give you counsel if I could. I would hold you in my lap and tell you how beautiful you are to me and to God. He loves everything about you.
Yes, God gave you the desire to write and draw. Pay more attention in school and hone your talent. School really is important and you should study! Even though your family never encourages college, you will eventually go and you will love it!
Make as many girlfriends as you can! You don’t have to say “yes” when a guy asks you to be his girlfriend. Really! You don’t even have a desire to date or be a “girlfriend” at that age. Why even go there? Enjoy your female friendships and guard your heart. Save your heart for the man God has for you.
Oh how I would give you a biblical foundation if I could. Nobody explained how certain choices could open doors in your life, so choices were made. But God’s arm is not too short to save you from yourself Beth. He is faithful to bring healing to your heart.
You have some difficult emotional situations to work through as an adult, but oh how free you will be!
Mama and Daddy are really going to need you in their last days. You will be there for them and you will survive it. Just do what you have to do — take one step at a time and know that it all works out.
Don’t worry, you WILL step into the person God designed you to be!
Breathe deep and love with all your heart. God planted that love and He will nourish it.
Yes, it all works out.
Enjoy your life!

Beth, how touching to read this letter to your younger self. Yes, God loved you and still loves you. If only we knew back then what we know now. But God works things out in His timing. Thank you for sharing from your heart.
I joined in on this one too. I couldn’t resist writing this letter.
Blessings and love,
Debbie
Yes, this.
And yet, I wonder if years from now we will want to tell our today selves how much more of His love we’ve come to know….
And one more thing, Beth; some day you will use all that you learned in those lonely years, all that you discovered when you repented from your poor choices, and you will bless many women and men with Hope, for this is your Destiny.
Beth your words to your younger self echo what I would say to my younger self. I would also tell myself to do well in school. Stay focused. Learn as much as possible. Push through and go to college. Ignore all the other kids who labeled me a stoner because I didn’t go to their particular church. (I have never used drugs) Know that God loves me and values me.
This was beautiful, friend. 🙂
