Isn’t it draining to be around someone who is bitter and unforgiving?

They can’t forgive an offense and it is like a tomb they revisit each time the offense is remembered.

Just like the demon possessed man who lived among the tombs (Luke 8:26), their minds rush back to the tombs of remembrance.  Isn’t that what a tomb – a headstone – represents?  Someone (or something) is remembered.  Well, there are things we shouldn’t “remember” aren’t there?

The world says, “I may forgive, but I WON’T forget!”  I hear a wounded soul saying that and I also hear pride.

HOW DARE THEY DO THAT TO ME!

Look at what “they” did to Jesus.  He was sinless and he didn’t say, “How dare they!”  Jesus said, “Father, forgive them.”

Father, help US to say “forgive them.”

I am flesh too.  I don’t like it when someone does something wrong or dirty.  AND I regret it when I run my mouth too much and say things that might hurt another person.  But when offended, we must forgive and release the person.

Trust me, I can spot bitterness a mile away.  Maybe it is because I have seen it most of my life or maybe God is just showing me more as I mature, but I can almost see a person’s mouth drawn together as if he/she has bitten into a lemon.   I can only imagine what the demon must look like that is hidden behind bitterness.

Hebrews 12:15
See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

I have NEVER noticed where the scripture above states, “See to it that no one MISSES THE GRACE OF GOD” because I have always focused on the second half.  Wow.  Isn’t that the truth?!?!?  If we don’t understand how much WE need God’s grace, how can we offer it to others?

Father, help US to understand how much WE need YOUR GRACE.

That makes perfect sense.  If we don’t understand what God has done for us — if we don’t see our own sin, then how can we extend grace to others.

Grace is like an ointment that fills the wounds of offense and washes out the bitterness!

Grace, grace, grace … we need to walk in grace with others.

Today I am joining Amy at Miracle, Signs, and Wonders to share an uplifting song. This song below by Christy Nockels fits this post perfectly: Grace Flows Down.

Father, we need Your grace to cover us … help us to have a fresh revelation of our own need in Jesus’ Name.
