It seems like a lot of people are experiencing warfare lately.  Have you noticed?   If you aren’t in the battle YET … prepare yourself with the Word of God.

We had an unexpected guest pop in the other night.  The visit was going relatively well other than the person said hello to everyone BUT ME (ha — honestly that is nothing new in this relationship).   But out of the blue an old subject came up and the next thing I knew something demonic entered our home.  I’m not kidding.  It felt like a spirit of anger and offense walked straight into the room.

It was so thick.

Even after the person left I couldn’t get the anger to shake off of me.  And I could tell my husband was really stirred up too.

Hebrews 12:15
See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

It was definitely a root of bitterness and unforgiveness in this person who visited.  When the person left — we felt defiled!  Even this morning thoughts started bombarding my mind over things I have already forgiven.

I knew it was an attack because I never feel anything when I think about that old situation.  Sigh …

It is so important for us to allow healing in our “hearts” so that we won’t drag others into a land laden with hidden bombs.

The Amplified Version reads like this:

Hebrews 12:15
Exercise foresight and be on the watch to look [after one another], to see that no one falls back from and fails to secure God’s grace (His unmerited favor and spiritual blessing), in order that no root of resentment (rancor, bitterness, or hatred) shoots forth and causes trouble and bitter torment, and the many become contaminated and defiled by it–

Resentment: a feeling of indignant displeasure or persistent ill will at something regarded as a wrong, insult, or injury

Rancor: bitter deep-seated ill will

Bitterness: distasteful or distressing to the mind

Hatred: prejudiced hostility or animosity

Yep, that would describe the type of thoughts that were bombarding my mind.

Thankfully I knew to capture those thoughts and cast them down in the Name of Jesus!  (2 Corinthians 10:5)

Have you ever crossed the path of a bitter person?  Maybe you struggle with bitterness …

There is healing for your wounds.  Jesus holds the key.

It doesn’t “just” happen though.  Healing in heart-wounds is something that must be sought after.

I have referred these two books before, but I can’t say it enough.  Great books that help lead you to forgiveness and emotional healing:  Hinds’ Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard AND Bait of Satan by John Bevere.

God bless you as you seek Him today!

(Photo has absolutely nothing to do with this post, but if you look to the right – you’ll see my husband holding our daughter on his shoulders and I am beside of them.  There is a guy with a big arm is in front of my face.  We had an episode of TLC’s  “Kids Outrageous Parties” filmed at our house this spring.  This was our big shot on TV.  Ha.)
