I had a reminder today from a new friend who is more experienced than me and has a ministry of her own.  This isn’t her exact quote, but she reminded me of something that I know all too well:

When God calls us to something, it is often out of our comfort zone.

Isn’t that the truth?  He wants us totally dependent on Him.  If we felt we could “do it” on our own, then why would we need the Lord?

I have a confession to make.  I didn’t even tell my friends until today, and they were shocked.  I was recently asked by a Women’s Aglow leader to speak at a local meeting.  What did I say?  “No…”  Yes, it is true.  I had every excuse (all were legit) – but mostly I didn’t want to have to stretch myself.  I didn’t want to have to expose myself.  My flesh doesn’t like being out in front.  My flesh doesn’t want to speak in public. My flesh is more than happy to be behind the scenes.

John 3:6
Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.

Romans 8:5
Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

I also didn’t realize the level of insecurity that was placed on me when I was told by others in “authority” that women couldn’t be used in ministry.  This too must go!

I say, “Lord, send me!  Lord, use me!  I’ll do it Father” yet I still want my comfort zone and His Will.  Usually those don’t go hand in hand.  What will it be?  Will I stay safe in my cave and grow stagnant, or will I step out in faith and move forward in His plan?

Isaiah 61:1-3

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
   instead of ashes,
the oil of joy instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
   a planting of the LORD
for the display of His splendor.
God has yoked me with other women who have the same passion in their hearts.  We have a burden to see others walking in freedom — walking in the Word of God. Each of us have a voice and have a testimony to share.
In this season where we focus on what Jesus did for us on the cross, I pray each of us would have fresh revelation of what He did for us and what He is calling us to do here on earth.
Thanks for “listening” friends.
