2 Corinthians 4:18
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

It is so easy for us to fix our eyes on what we see.   We are raised in a world where we use human logic.  We see the tangible and grasp hold of it.

God often calls us to do the opposite of what human logic would require of us.    His ways are often the opposite of what we would expect here in the natural:

  • Those who are the least here will be first in heaven.
  • If we want to be seen, we must meet with God in secret.
  • If someone hits your right cheek, turn so they can hit the other too.
  • If you want to be higher, you must go lower and humble yourself.
  • When we die we actually live.

Isn’t it just like the Lord to ask us to FOCUS without our eyes?  We are called to use our internal/eternal eyes.   The opposite of what we would naturally do.

Our heavenly treasures are unseen.

Father, please help our focus to be on what is eternal.

Why is it harder for us to press through to grasp the unseen?

Everything that is really worth having in life seems to take a pressing that makes us lean with all we have into something that we can’t even see.    That invisible wall, door, foe … always there — waiting to be chipped away, opened, and slain with our faith.

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Emphasis mine)

Father, please help us to remember the things not seen.  Help us remember our citizenship is in heaven and that this life is just a temporary life.   May our delight be living in Your Will and chipping away at the stumbling blocks that come our way.   We need You … I NEED YOU.  I am nothing without You Lord.
