I noticed a beautiful vine growing from our shrubs up to my bedroom window.   With the morning sun shining on the vine, it looked so green and fresh.  But what you can’t see as easily are the very sharp briars.

Isn’t sin sometimes just like this?

We might make a bad choice to entertain something that we know is bad for us, but eventually the briars are felt and by that point the sinful vine is strong and climbing.

What would happen if this vine wasn’t dealt with?  It would eventually take over my window and block the sunlight.

Sin does the same thing.  If we continue to entertain it — our conscious will become so cluttered that the conviction of the Holy Spirit will eventually be blocked.

The root of this vine must be dealt with, just as the root of sin in our lives.

Psalm 65:3
When we were overwhelmed by sins, You forgave our transgressions.

Are there any vines growing in your window today?
