This morning as I watched the sun rise, I read these scriptures from the book of Isaiah:

Isaiah 40:28-31

Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.

His understanding is unsearchable.

He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,

But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

I am amazed that our Heavenly Father, our Daddy God, our Abba Father — who created everything that has been created — knows us by Name.  We have His attention and His affection.

We can approach His Throne with boldness and assurance because the blood of Jesus washes us clean.

God is such a good Daddy!   He gives us power and strength.   He cares for us and provides.  He makes a way when there seems to be no way.

Psalm 68:5
A Father of the fatherless, a Defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation.

God is the Father to the fatherless.

I had a precious earthly father.   I called him Daddy and he always had time to play with me when I was young.  He never pushed me away or made me feel unwanted or unloved.   He was jovial and for the most part enjoyed life.   He loved to work outside in his yard and would be so disappointed in us kids for the way we have let the weeds take over.  (I apologize each time I step into their yard.)

My Daddy died a year ago May 8th (on his birthday).   Time has certainly flown since that day.   I can’t help but think of him as I sit here breathing in the aroma of Mimosa blossoms.   We have a beautiful Mimosa tree that creates a canopy over our screened  porch.   Ah, the scent is like a thick southern perfume hanging in the air.  Mimosa blossoms and Gardenias (which are also located near my porch) take me home with each sniff.   I’m so grateful to have been born and raised in the south with these wonderful aromas!  And I’m grateful for a grandmother and parents who always had summer flower arrangements in their homes.

As we approach Father’s Day tomorrow, I can’t help but think of what an Awesome, Holy, Father God I have.   My earthly Daddy – though now in heaven,  was a good Daddy to me too.   I have a sweet husband who loves our daughter so much.  He is PRESENT in her life and showers her with love and affection.    I am grateful!

Perhaps you didn’t have a kind earthly Dad in your life.  I’m sorry if that is the case, but all is not lost.   You have a Heavenly Daddy who loves you more than any man could have ever loved you.   He is not distant, but with you.

God loves you!
