CherryTree

This photo brings back sweet memories from my childhood. My grandmother had a big cherry tree on the other side of her garden. I remember climbing that tree and grazing on the cherries that were within my reach.

I have this scripture on my mind this morning due to an email I received:

Matthew 7:18-20
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Jesus said we will know if people are false by their fruit.

That leaves a lot of examining to do doesn’t it?

When I check fruit at the grocery store, I squeeze it. Have you ever noticed what happens when you squeeze rotten fruit? The deteriorating flesh of the fruit will rupture and begin to ooze. I think our fruit is often tested by pressure as well and what oozes out is the proof of what is inside.

I pray that each of us would love all people, but not be deceived into believing that all are as they seem. There are those who say all of the right Christian terminology but they have created their own doctrine to fit their own lifestyles. Always read the Bible and find the truth within the pages for yourself. It is your sword.
