I saw a vision of someone carrying a baby in her arms.   When I first saw the baby the Lord told me to look closer because there was something written on her.

ABORTED

Yes, ABORTED was written across the baby’s blanket.   She was swaddled tightly in a blanket, carried by this woman (similar to this photo).

This baby represented a calling … a dream … a prophetic word.

If you hang out with other prophetic people, or have received prayer from those who are prophetic — you have most likely gathered a good share of prophetic words spoken over your life.

Way back in the early 90s I heard for the first time, “You have healing in your hands.”  Immediately, it witnessed in my heart because even then I desired to lay hands on the sick and see them recover.   Did it happen back then?  No.  I tried, but the healing didn’t manifest.

Fast forward several years to when I attended a Danny Chambers meeting.  He was (maybe still is) an artist/singer with Integrity Music.  (Do some of you remember having stacks of those cassette tapes in your car?)  Danny prophesied over me, “You have healing in your hands and you will see your dreams come true with your own eyes.”   He had never met me before, but the same Holy Spirit in Danny knew me.

Years and years have passed, but I have NOT let those prophetic words go.   And over the years, others have seen the same gift resting in my hands.  Now (YEARS LATER), I am seeing the healing begin to manifest and it thrills my soul.

As I told you a few posts ago, I am taking a prophetic class that has really brought clarity to me in several areas.   Mike Rogers, Senior Leader at The Church at New Bern, shared how prophetic words are like seeds.   Remember the story of the seeds sown in Matthew?

Matthew 13:18-23
Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.

God still speaks to us.

We have His written Word in The Bible.  We call it the Logos word of God.   Then we have the Rhema word of God which is a specific word, promise, or phrase that has an anointing from God for you and for a specific time.   It may even appear to jump off of the page to you.

These prophetic words that you KNOW are from the Lord are also seeds.

I have a lot of prophetic words that I recorded in journals, but just left somewhere on a shelf with the mindset, “It will happen in God’s timing.”   Part of that statement is true — it will only happen in God’s timing, BUT … will the promise be aborted?

This particular vision showed me that a promise was going to be aborted if it wasn’t fought for in prayer.

Are you an intercessor?  Do you contend for your loved ones?

I was so convicted yesterday when I read in Deuteronomy about Moses interceding on behalf of the Israelites:

Deuteronomy 9:18
Then once again I fell prostrate before the Lord for forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water, because of all the sin you had committed, doing what was evil in the Lord’s sight and so arousing his anger.

Ok, now THAT is dedication.  That is how to contend and pray.   Wow, I am humbled and blown away.

Back to Mike Rogers … He shared something that the Lord told him concerning the prophetic words given to him over the years.   The Lord instructed Mike that during the times he is worshiping Him and feels His presence — to prophesy (speak those promises) into that atmosphere.  Mike said he did it for about 3 months and didn’t see any breakthrough.  He complained to the Lord about it and was told, “I never told you to stop.”   So he began again and after 9 MONTHS (hello … time to birth) he saw the prophesies manifest into the natural.  It totally makes sense.

We have dreams, prophesies, and visions that have been placed on the shelf of our hearts.  We shouldn’t allow the wind blow them away, or the enemy to choke the life out of them.   We must contend for what the Lord has given us.

Don’t allow what you are supposed to birth to be aborted.
