2 Timothy 2:1-3
You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.  And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus, wrote this instruction to his dear son in the faith, Timothy.   He told him to SHARE the teachings of Christ to reliable people who in turn would teach others.   These beautiful words inspired by God have been passed down from generation to generation.   Now we have them all captured in a beautiful book that is ALIVE and spiritually discerned.   Even with all that we have in this generation — the technology and the books — it is in SPEECH that these words change lives.

Some friends and I were just discussing this principle this week.

Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

How does faith come?  Faith comes BY HEARING the Word of God.   There is something mystical and wonderful about HEARING!  I think the Holy Spirit just gave me a drop of wisdom even as I typed that last sentence!  God SPOKE everything into existence.  There is nothing created that He didn’t command to appear (read Genesis chapter 1).   When we speak, we move the air and the atmosphere around us with our breath.  The Bible tells us that God’s Word is ALIVE AND ACTIVE.  There is a key to it MOVING through the air.

Words, even though alive and active can sit in a book on our table.  The words can gather dust like a relic (and most likely many of us have Bibles on shelves collecting dust), however the POWER is released when the words are read OUT LOUD and are HEARD.  There is power in communicating these precious living jewels.

God, in His beautiful, glorious mercy even taught the Israelites to read the Torah out loud in the temple.

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Oh, those wonderful WORDS of God!

I had a friend on a social media platform tell me that she thought the Bible was just a book of regulations that told people what to do.  Oh, if people only knew that these words bring LIFE.  The Words are HOPE for those of us who know Jesus.   It reveals what needs to be revealed by piercing into the deepest places and exposing everything hidden.   Who can know a man’s heart, but the Spirit?

People who aren’t believers can read the Bible like a textbook and not necessarily be touched or changed because they aren’t seeking the Writer.  If that is you, ask the Lord to open your understanding.  Seek Him with all of your heart and you WILL find Him.

Jeremiah 29:13
You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.

Share God’s Word with others.  Speak His Word — even when you are reading to yourself.  There is wonderful WORKING power in the atmosphere that is activated when you release them with your breath.

God bless you all in 2016!  May God find each of us seeking Him and falling even deeper in love with Him.
