I insist on stepping away from our seasonal business calls and emails long enough to share our new screened-in porch with you.

This is one day that we don’t have school groups visiting our farm, so I thought I’d have all sorts of time to do what I wanted to do.   Well, I was mistaken.   After dropping off our daughter this morning, this is where I have been.  Literally — I have been planted in this chair.  I have my scheduling books on the floor beside of me and two phones to the right of me.  I have answered phone calls and emails all day long.

The good news is, I have a wonderful breeze blowing through my hair, so my office is really nice.
Some of you may remember me saying that I was supposed to receive my parent’s white wicker furniture …  well, I finally picked it up the other day.  It was one of the hardest things I’ve done lately.  I sobbed as I removed each piece.  That couch and those chairs have a lot of memories attached to them and this felt like the beginning of taking apart my home place.

Heavy sigh …

I bought the little red rustic looking end tables (near the couch) from Carolina Pottery.  They are really cute!  The rest of the stuff, I pulled out of closets or off out of other rooms in my house.  I really want to purchase a couple of things to spruce it up a little more.  Here are some other shots for you to enjoy.

Maybe you can see the end tables better here … ok, well maybe not:

Pay no attention to the privacy screen outside of the screened-in area (ha, I guess that made you look).  That will be taken down soon and replaced with pickets and a railing like the remainder of the deck.

I thought you might like a better view of the ceiling.

This is actually where I am sitting as I type this post.  It is the least attractive corner of the porch.  It needs help.   Like I said before, I just grabbed stuff from the closets to make it look complete, but this one candle on this deck table looks pretty pathetic.   I will do something else to this corner when I get a breather.  But for now … here you go:

My parents loved their yard and lived on their screened-in porch.   In honor of my parent’s memory, which I can’t escape when I look at this furniture, I am going to set up a bird bath and a lot of feeders around this area so that this furniture will feel right at home.

Hopefully looking at this furniture won’t sting with loss one day.

Have a super blessed evening everyone!
