What type of rare bird feet are you viewing?

I’m just pulling your leg.   This is actually a shot of the above-ground root system at the base of two stalks of corn.

Some of our corn actually.

Thank you for all of your prayers during hurricane Irene.  Our corn maze didn’t suffer much damage.  We had a little rain and a windy day, but it wasn’t bad here where I live.

I love the way God created these extra little “feet” at the base of the corn to help it stand.

The corn is taller than me  (and I’m 5’9″) and these little feeler looking roots hold up these long thin stalks!

We need support too don’t we?

I love how God provides what we need for support!

First and foremost, we have His precious Holy Spirit.

John 16:7
However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you].  (Amplified Version)

What would I do without the Holy Spirit?  He gives me the ability to pray when I have no idea how I should pray!

Romans 8:26
So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.

I am grateful that I can pray directly to God without the enemy understanding.  I can pray His divine will, thanks to the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 14:2
For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding].

Aren’t we blessed to have a Savior who is always interceding for us?

Hebrews 7:25
Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them.

I am grateful for each part of my root system!

Roots also need water and nutrients:  The Word of God, Prayer, Communion with God.

How are your roots?  Are you slumped over in despair OR are you leaning on the help of the Father to stand up high?
