The other day my friend was talking about the attacks from the enemy and she brought up an upcoming white water rafting trip.   Immediately the Holy Spirit gave me an analogy of the waters and the guide.   The waters represented the attacks of the enemy that can sometimes splash us and push us around (if we aren’t grounded).   Yes, maybe we can tell the enemy is around, but we have someone on our side!   The GUIDE.   I have never been white water rafting, but from what I’ve been told — the guide prepares the riders and tells them when to paddle.

Is this any different than what we go through in life sometimes?   We prefer the slow waters that allow us to relax and enjoy the scenery, but sometimes we can find ourselves in the RAPIDS.  Hopefully we have already been walking with the Lord and can hear His direction in the rapids.  If not, don’t panic.   God’s Word says that His children hear His voice.  He will guide us when we ask for wisdom and direction.

James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

Psalm 32:8-9
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you.

Psalm 37:23
The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way.

When riding the rapids, a helmet is needed (we also need the helmet of Salvation).   A vest is also worn (we need the breastplate of righteousness).  The vest is strapped on and we need the belt of truth.   The oars are used against the waves to pull and push (the sword of the Spirit is used to push the enemy back and move forward in the spirit).   Shoes are worn to protect the feet from rocks (and we need to wear the shoes of peace).   Just as the riders put their faith in the guide’s experience, we need our shield of faith to absorb every fiery dart that comes against us.

If you are in the rapids today, I pray you will feel God’s love for you.   Call out to Him and allow His peace to cover your mind.   There is peace even in the storm.

God bless you today!
