I was reading in Romans this morning and this scripture stopped me.

Romans 4:18
Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

Against ALL hope, Abraham IN HOPE believed.

It was because Abraham had the faith to believe that he was able to see God’s promise fulfilled.  Even though his body was close to 100 years old, and Sarah was way beyond the child-bearing years — he believed.

WHY do we so often put our eyes on the natural realm, including our feelings?

God’s Word is either the TRUTH or it isn’t.   I believe it is the truth!

There are areas in my life that need fine-tuning though.  I need the reminder of who GOD says I am as His child.  We all need these reminders don’t we?   Once we have God’s Word deep in our hearts, our fickle “feelings” don’t trick us anymore.  You might say, “Oh, but I feel ….”  Guess what?  We cannot go by our feelings.  They will often trick us.

Romans 4:20-21
Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,  being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised.

Abraham DID NOT waver.

Ouch!  How many times have I wavered?

I don’t want to fluctuate in my opinion or direction.   Do you?

When I was bound by demons of fear and panic, my feelings controlled me.  I felt fear, so I retreated.  I felt panic, so I reacted.  It was a never-ending cycle of torment.   If I had only known that my body and my mind were lying to me.  I DID NOT have to live that way and neither do you.

Maybe I’m radical or fanatical, but I believe if the Bible states it, then everything else must come into alignment with the written Word.   However, that doesn’t mean we just sit back and wait for things to happen.

We must use God’s Word as our sword.  We must confess it, meditate on it, and BELIEVE it.   The devil isn’t going to just roll over and let you have victory.  You have an active part in your freedom.

James 4:7
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

We are to submit to God and RESIST the devil.   There is action on our part.  It is in the submission to God and the resistance of the devil that he flees from you.  HE FLEES.    (The online dictionary of the word FLEE:  1. a. To run away from danger; b. To hurry toward a place of security; 2. To pass away swiftly: VANISH.)

Are you waiting to see God’s Truth manifest in your situation?

Are you living a life of torment and pain?

I do believe the choice begins in our hearts.  Will I believe and fight for what God’s Word says or will I just sit back and let whatever come what may?  “Well, it must have been God’s will” people say.  But if that were the case, nobody would be in hell.    God has given us free will and we all have choices to make.

I pray each of us will be encouraged to BELIEVE and NOT WAVER — just as Abraham believed.
