BethandJennI am getting very excited over something so simple!

Let me back up a few years.

Over the years I have taken my parent’s wicker furniture off of their  screened porch and placed it in the yard to apply a new coat of white paint.   I often teased my sister about painting HER future furniture.    You see, my parents had created a list (smart on their part) dividing up different pieces within the house between the three children.  For some reason, I thought the wicker furniture was on my sister’s list, but guess what — it will be MINE.  Woo hoo!

I am excited because when my husband and I married, I had hoped to have wicker furniture on our back sun-porch, but my Mom gave us my great Aunt Jetta’s dining room table/chairs.  There was no other place to put them than on my back porch.  That knocked out my plans for wicker.

Now that my parents are in gone, I will be the new owner of their wicker furniture (which holds so many memories for me).  They purchased the furniture before I married.   It basically needs a new coat of paint and some fresh cushions, but aside from that — I feel like I will have a treasure (and a piece of my childhood).

My husband and I were riding down the road and out of nowhere this idea came to me:  Screen in part of our deck!    Why hadn’t I thought of this before?!?!?  I have always LOVED screened-in porches!   I mean, I was practically raised on one!  We ate our meals, watched TV, and even slept out there when we lost power on hot stormy summer nights.    The amazing part is that my husband didn’t buck me and thought it would be a good idea~   The picture above is me and my oldest niece, Jennifer.  It was taken on the SCREENED PORCH.

Here is another photo I found taken on my parent’s screened-in porch. It offers you an example of one of the many flower arrangements that adorned my parent’s home. The porch overlooked our parent’s pool.

DandBeth I can hardly wait to get this project started and completed!  I will be meeting with a builder Thursday afternoon.  Yay!  I pray he can start on it ASAP!

I took this picture of the chair where my sweet daddy had sat many times in his last years.  He would make it out to the porch and surround himself with everything he wanted to work on.  I wanted to capture his chair just the way he left it.   I see his glue and he also worked on his hedge trimmers.  That is why there is an orange cord under the chair.  Bless his heart.

I will have this sweet chair someday soon — but with a fresh cushion.

God truly blessed me with this surprise!
